Ireland winger Mack Hansen, who recently rejoined the team against New Zealand following over a year sidelined by injury, stated that the squad intends to disregard “outside noise” in the lead-up to their Test match against Argentina in Dublin this Friday. Andy Farrell’s team experienced the termination of their 19-match home winning streak by the All Blacks last week, which resulted in them losing their position at the top of the world rankings. Despite inquiries being raised about a team that has suffered defeat in three of its last five games, Hansen highlighted the way Andy Farrell’s squad reacted to their previous challenge. Ireland managed to overcome South Africa and achieve a draw in their two-Test series in July, courtesy of two late drop-goals from Ciaran Frawley. This occurred one week after they had been significantly outplayed in the initial encounter. Hansen, who was absent from that series due to injury, commented, “People are always very eager to jump on you when you’re down. It’s like in South Africa, nobody gave them a hope after the first Test.” He continued, “And what happens? They come back and win it. That’s the best thing about this group. The outside noise is outside noise and nobody knows what goes on in here, how hard we work and how resilient we are. “People can chat away. The people who know us know, unfortunately, it was one of those weeks [against New Zealand], but we’re ready to bounce back.” Ireland displayed numerous errors during their match against the All Blacks. Hansen indicated that the squad aims to be “looking to right a lot of wrongs” when they face Felipe Contepomi’s Argentina side, which arrived in Dublin following a significant victory against Italy. Regarding Ireland’s Monday debrief, the Connacht wing further stated, “There weren’t really hard chats, just honest chats.” He elaborated, “We came to the conclusion that it wasn’t good enough and also that it just wasn’t us. “So this week we’re looking to right a lot of wrongs and no better place to do it then back in the Aviva in front of a home crowd.”
