To secure a spot in the Global Super League final, Hampshire must triumph in their last group stage fixture against Victoria on Thursday. Toby Albert of Hampshire has expressed confidence in his squad ahead of this crucial match. Following an initial victory, the team has since experienced two consecutive losses in the 20-over tournament, including a defeat by the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday. A win against table-topping Victoria is essential for Hampshire to maintain any hope of reaching Friday’s final. Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Albert stated, “It’s been hard chasing in these games. I reckon this wicket was the best one we’ve played on so far but it still wasn’t easy, Guyana are a good side and probably on paper the strongest side in the competition. The feeling is that we have to go and win our last game and you never know what could happen, it’s great learning being over here but so different anything we play on at home, it’s only going to help us going forward.” In their match against Guyana, Hampshire batted first, posting a total of 146 runs for six wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Shan Masood contributing a leading score of 79. However, they could not prevent the host team from successfully chasing the target, as Guyana secured a four-wicket victory with 10 balls left. The final will feature the top two teams from the group stage once all sides have completed their four matches. Currently, Hampshire occupies third place in the standings, trailing the leading two teams, Guyana and Victoria, by two points.
