The blueprint for a residential complex in Guildford town centre has incorporated an additional 65 apartments, achieved by modifying the interior configurations of the structures already in place. This £150 million project, initially approved in 2018 for 438 residences adjacent to the town’s railway station, has seen its capacity increased. Solum Regeneration, a joint venture formed by Network Rail and Kier Property, successfully raised the total number of apartments to 503, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. Although the internal arrangements were revised in four out of the five blocks, the vertical dimensions of the buildings, ranging from eight to 10 storeys, have not been altered. This development, initially put forward in 2014, will now also feature an additional six affordable homes, bringing the overall count for such units to 51. The developers stated in their planning documents that the project is expected to “deliver a range of substantial social, economic and environmental benefits” for Guildford town centre. No extra vehicle parking spaces were put forward for the location, which is situated a short distance from the train station.
