A fire that erupted in a block of flats situated in central Guildford has been determined to be accidental, according to Surrey Fire & Rescue Service. The incident, which began at 15:00 GMT on Wednesday on Onslow Street, saw eight fire engines deployed at its peak. A spokesperson for the service confirmed on Thursday that the blaze was now “fully out” and its origin was “most likely related to cooking”. Surrey Police stated on Thursday that they would not be investigating the matter. Emergency services, including both police and ambulance personnel, also responded to the scene, which is located near Guildford Crown Court. The fire service had previously advised individuals to avoid the vicinity and for those residing nearby to keep their windows and doors closed.
