Two individuals have become the inaugural graduates of a veterinary nurse training program offered in Guernsey. The College of Animal Welfare (CAW) announced that Lianne Abel, 35, and Sammie Roberts, 24, have successfully qualified as registered veterinary nurses. Their qualification was achieved through CAW’s satellite training centre, which operates from the GSPCA. According to CAW, this achievement “highlights the opportunities now available locally for those in Guernsey aspiring to become veterinary nurses.” Alison Simpson, who serves as the head of veterinary nursing satellite centres at CAW, commented on the significance of this development, stating: “Sammie and Lianne’s achievement underscores the value of having a dedicated training centre on the island.” CAW noted that both students were able to complete their coursework from their residences in Guernsey, thereby reducing transportation-related emissions. Ms. Abel remarked on her experience, saying: “The course itself was so brilliantly delivered with comprehensive resources and plenty of support when you needed it.” Ms. Roberts also shared her perspective, adding: “It has been such a great opportunity to be a part of the new satellite centre in Guernsey and be the first students to complete the course on the island, along with Lianne.” Ms. Simpson further indicated the organization’s future plans, stating: “We look forward to continuing to expand our training provision across the UK to help more students achieve their goals.” Post navigation Union Claims Jailed Headteacher Operated “Like a Lord of His Own Kingdom” in Recruitment Ofsted: School Demonstrates “Rapid Improvement” After Past Criticisms
