Organized diving groups will again have permission to conduct dives within St Peter Port Harbour on Christmas Day. According to Guernsey Ports, participants are required to be members of an organized group and must submit their risk assessments and safety plans to the Port Authority no later than December 20. Following the granting of approval, divers are mandated to carry a surface marker buoy and to be accompanied by a support vessel equipped with a VHF radio, which must continuously monitor Guernsey VTS on channel 12. Captain Jerome Davies, the harbour-master, stated that Christmas Day represents the sole occasion annually when group dives “can be carried out safely” within the harbour.
