A charity has disclosed that a contingent of cyclists from Guernsey successfully generated over £60,000 following their completion of an eight-day cycling tour across Brittany. During June, 53 participants collectively covered a distance exceeding 40,200km (25,000 miles), embarking from St Malo and traversing Vitre, Nantes, Saint Nazaire, and Rennes before concluding their journey back in St Malo. The organization, Only Fools and Donkeys, confirmed that the event accumulated £61,677. Sharon Parr, who chairs the charity, commented: “It’s an amazing amount of money which we can make a real difference with.” She further stated that the sum achieved had “exceeded” all expectations. According to the charity, this total signifies that it has collected over £250,000 since its establishment in 2010. The funds are allocated to initiatives that assist children, young people, and adults facing learning difficulties and physical disabilities.
