Personnel at Guernsey Airport stepped in to ensure the Christmas letters and parcels were dispatched on schedule, following a breakdown of Guernsey Post’s security scanners. Guernsey Post stated that two sets of scanners stopped operating on Saturday evening while staff were preparing to load the mail plane, which risked causing a delay. Nevertheless, Guernsey Airport’s security team offered to scan packages utilizing the airport’s own equipment, thereby enabling the flight to depart on time. Steve Lawrence, head of transport at Guernsey Post, credited the airport team’s “quick thinking and support” with allowing them to “keep the mail,” further remarking: “This kind of teamwork is what makes all the difference, especially in the lead up to Christmas.” Guernsey Post commented: “With Christmas fast approaching and knowing how important it is for gifts and cards to reach loved ones, bringing the mail back to [our headquarters at] Envoy House was the last thing we wanted to do.” Travis Torode, who heads up the security team, received particular praise. “We are incredibly grateful to Travis and the team for stepping in and going above and beyond to help us in this situation,” Guernsey Post conveyed.
