An urban farm facing financial difficulties has expressed gratitude to the local community following successful fundraising initiatives that ensured its continued operation. Neil Campbell and Joanna Holbrook-Morris initiated a campaign aiming to collect £40,000 to preserve Nunny’s Farm, located in Grimsby. Concerns were raised that a majority of the animals might need to be euthanized if the additional funding was not secured. Nevertheless, Mr Campbell provided an update, stating: “I think the fact we’ve now reached our target shows how much the farm means to the local community.” He further commented: “The support and love we’ve been shown has been quite overwhelming.” According to Mr Campbell, certain individuals exceeded expectations with their fundraising contributions, notably a young boy named Harry, who accumulated £960 by completing laps of People’s Park in Grimsby despite adverse weather conditions. The farm, situated on the Nunsthorpe estate, commenced its fundraising appeal in November. Mr Campbell had previously indicated that the farm experienced adverse weather and flooding throughout the preceding year, alongside rising wage expenses. He emphasized the necessity of evaluating the management of the operation. He stated: “I don’t want to be one of those organisations that are constantly asking for money.” He concluded: “We have to be more sustainable and make sure this is the one and only time this happens, so the farm is there for generations to come.” Information regarding additional content from Lincolnshire is accessible via BBC Sounds, and the latest episode of Look North is available for viewing.
