Danny McNaughton, a 38-year-old man from Wellington Street in Grimsby, has been incarcerated following his conviction for 18 sexual offenses against two children. He received a 14-year prison sentence at Grimsby Crown Court on December 19. McNaughton was found guilty of several charges, including four counts of rape of a child, six counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, four counts of penetrative sexual activity with a child, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity. Detective Constable Paula Barden, from Humberside Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, praised the victims and their families for “their bravery in coming forward and helping to put this evil man behind bars.” The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on all charges. Det Con Paula Barden noted: “Whilst McNaughton pleaded guilty to seven of the offences, he pleaded not guilty to 11 further charges, putting the two victims, and their family, through the horrific ordeal of a five-day trial.” She further stated that reports of sexual assault and sexual offenses are taken “incredibly seriously” and that the police “will continue to seek prosecution against anybody who thinks it is OK to commit these types of offences.”
