Grenade Handed In Prompts Council Building Evacuation

Offices belonging to a local council have been temporarily closed, and staff have been evacuated from the premises, after a grenade was presented by a member of the public. This explosive device was given to employees at Tewkesbury Borough Council by an individual who discovered it during metal detecting activities. Gloucestershire Constabulary established a security cordon around the structure at 14:10 GMT on Tuesday afternoon. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is currently evaluating the item, and a controlled explosion might be conducted.
