Great Britain’s women’s team, which has never before qualified for a Winter Olympics, secured a 3-0 victory over Spain in their 2026 Winter Olympic qualifying campaign, largely thanks to two goals from Katie Henry. Having previously defeated Latvia in their initial game, Great Britain established an early lead in the 10th minute when Henry converted a cross from Katherine Gale. Henry then scored her second goal in the 54th minute, cutting in from the left to deliver a powerful shot. Jodie Alderson-Smith sealed the win in Sheffield by scoring into an empty net. Great Britain is set to face the Netherlands on Sunday in their final group game; the Netherlands has also won both of its matches thus far. The winner of this four-team group will advance to the final stage of qualifying, scheduled for February 2025. The Great Britain women’s squad is aiming for a historic first qualification for the Winter Games, with the 2026 edition slated to be hosted in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
