Hibs have scored only nine goals across their ten Premiership fixtures to date. Assistant coach David Gray emphasized the immediate priority, stating, “We know we need to get points on the board. That’s the be all and end all and the full focus for this weekend.” Gray acknowledged Hibs’ urgent requirement for only their second league victory of the current campaign. Despite this, he maintained his conviction that “it’s coming” and that such a win would provide the necessary “kickstart to the season.” This Sunday, Hibs are scheduled to play host to Dundee United, a team they suffered a dramatic defeat against last month. Gray recognized that securing a win would demand “a big effort,” but expressed confidence, asserting, “if we play the way we can play to the best of our ability, then we can go and get the three points.” A draw against Ross County on Wednesday saw Hibs move above their city rivals Hearts and away from the bottom position in the league standings. While Gray conceded that they would have accepted a point prior to the match, he acknowledged that they are “in a position where we know we need more than that.” Gray, aged 36, whose team holds the distinction of being the Premiership’s lowest scorers, commented on their offensive play: “We’re getting to the final third and creating chances, I’d have much more concerns if we weren’t doing that.” He further elaborated on the need for improved finishing: “We definitely need to be more clinical, it’s something we talk about and are working hard at, but a big thing for me, the message to the players is we need to keep putting ourselves in these positions to miss them. It might take 10 runs to get one opportunity, we might get a bit of luck, a break of the ball and that’s how quickly things can change. We need to keep working at it, putting ourselves into positions to miss and hopefully, by continuing to do that, things will change quickly.” Post navigation Kilmarnock’s Season in Numbers: Defensive Challenges and Remarkable Comebacks Football Transfer Market: Player Contract Demands and Club Interests
