Grantham’s festive season will commence with a Christmas lights switch-on, a craft fair, and a gingerbread trail. This event is scheduled for the town centre on Sunday, running from 11:00 to 17:00 GMT, with the Christmas lights illumination set for 16:30. South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) is responsible for both the funding and organization of this event. Paul Stokes, the council’s deputy leader, stated: “This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever, following last year’s success in the snow.” The complimentary gingerbread trail will feature 16 vibrant, wooden characters, adorned by local schoolchildren and community groups, exhibited within various shops and businesses. The craft market will host over 35 stalls, alongside a Santa’s grotto and nearby vintage fire engines. An opportunity to participate in a pop-up community choir will also be available. Individuals interested in performing should gather at the George Shopping Centre shortly before 13:00. Following rehearsals, the choir is scheduled to perform live on stage at 14:10. Additionally, Wide Westgate will be converted into a traditional fun fair, offering rides and carnival attractions. Free parking will be accessible in SKDC car parks for the duration of the day.
