An individual convicted of sex offenses in Grantham has been given an additional 16-month prison sentence. Stephen Cherry is currently serving a 10-and-a-half-year prison term, having been convicted earlier this year of sexual offenses involving a young girl. The 50-year-old, previously residing at Shanklin Drive in Grantham, admitted guilt to two additional counts of sexual assault against a second adult victim during his appearance at Lincoln Crown Court in October. Judge James House KC informed Cherry that the 16-month sentence would be served consecutively to his existing term. Furthermore, a restraining order was issued, prohibiting Cherry from any contact with the victim or from visiting her residence. Earlier in the year, Cherry was convicted of 11 offenses, which included sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and one count of oral rape. The victim reported the abuse in 2022, having gained understanding of sexual abuse through a television program and school sex education. She stated that Cherry “made her do things” and subsequently underwent interviews with specially trained police officers. Upon his release from prison, Cherry will also be subject to an extended license period of 12 months, following Judge House’s determination that he is a dangerous offender.
