According to sources who spoke with BBC Sport, Graham Potter is not presently being considered as a candidate to succeed Steve Cooper in the role of Leicester City manager. These sources indicated that the former head coach for Brighton and Chelsea, Potter, and the club have not engaged in discussions since the summer. Potter had previously been close to joining Leicester City before the club appointed Cooper in June to replace Enzo Maresca, who had departed for Stamford Bridge after leading the team to the Championship title. Having been without a role since his dismissal from Chelsea in April 2023, Potter previously engaged in advanced negotiations with Leicester City but ultimately failed to reach an agreement; however, he is not currently a contender for the position. While Leicester City has refrained from public comments regarding their search for a new manager, sources informed BBC Sport that the club aims to finalize an appointment prior to Saturday’s match against Brentford. Nevertheless, there is an understanding within the club that securing the correct appointment is crucial, and they are prepared to wait if doing so ensures the selection of the most suitable candidate. Representatives for Potter have chosen not to provide a comment. David Moyes, another former Premier League manager currently without a club, is not anticipated to be among the candidates for the managerial role at the King Power Stadium. Other individuals linked to the position include Ruud van Nistelrooy, who became available this month after departing Manchester United’s coaching staff following Ruben Amorim’s appointment, and West Brom’s Carlos Corberan.
