Spelthorne Borough Council (SBC) announced that it has obtained government funding, which will allow it to persist in offering careers guidance and employment assistance to young individuals. The Department for Work and Pensions confirmed its commitment to supply a grant totaling £63,000, effective January 2025. This funding is designated to empower the council to maintain its provision of support for young people at the Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub, located in Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey. SBC originally established the hub in 2022 with the objective of assisting young individuals in enhancing their skills and qualifications, acquiring work experience and apprenticeships, and successfully navigating job applications. Councillor Howard Williams commented, stating: “Securing this funding for a fourth year is really good news for the council and will enable us to continue the excellent work being undertaken at the Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub.” According to SBC, the hub has positively impacted the lives of almost 900 residents during 2024.
