The clock at Glossop Town Hall, located in a Derbyshire town, ceased operation on Wednesday after freezing weather conditions caused it to become frozen in sub-zero temperatures. High Peak Borough Council stated its decision to postpone immediate intervention to “avoid damage to the mechanisms.” According to Council leader Anthony McKeown, “We know how important the clock is to the town and it will be back working again soon.” The town hall is presently undergoing a £7m renovation project, which has resulted in the building’s internal heating system not functioning typically. The authority further noted that addressing the heating system is among the final tasks slated for completion within the project.
