A gerbil was successfully rescued from a residential fire and subsequently given oxygen using a specialized mask designed for pets. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident, a blaze in Tollgate Lane, Bury St Edmunds, at approximately 03:15 GMT. The fire originated in an upstairs bedroom. All human occupants were accounted for, and no injuries were reported among them. The fire service stated that the oxygen mask employed was provided by Smokey Paws, a non-profit organization that supplies essential equipment to emergency crews across the nation.
