A new image has been released featuring the cast of the popular comedy series “Gavin and Stacey,” including characters from Barry and Billericay, in anticipation of its upcoming BBC finale. The photograph shows James Corden as Smithy and Mathew Horne as Gavin leaning against a brick wall, joined by Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, and Ruth Jones, portraying Nessa. The announcement of the final episode, scheduled to broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day, occurred earlier this year. This image references earlier photographs taken 17 years ago for the initial series of “Gavin and Stacey” in Barry Island, a seaside resort in south Wales. Significant changes have occurred since that time. The characters were last seen five years prior, during the 2019 Christmas special, when Nessa proposed marriage to Smithy. A key question persists: did he accept? Observers might note that Nessa does not appear to be wearing a wedding ring in the recent photograph. However, it is unclear if the image depicts a scene from before or after the proposal, or if Nessa typically wears a wedding ring. The official synopsis states: “In Barry, Bryn’s packing the Picasso in readiness for a trip to Essex. Stacey and Gavin are looking for new ways to spice up their 17-year marriage and Gwen is behaving most strangely. Nessa’s started a new business venture and Neil the baby’s about to begin an apprenticeship with his dad.” Corden unveiled Smithy’s distinctive car on the initial day of shooting for the most recent “Gavin and Stacey” Christmas special. It appears that his and Nessa’s son will now be assisting with the “tilin, roofin, plasterin, and feng shui.” The synopsis continues: “Over in Billericay Pam is stressing out at the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by a newly retired Mick practising his golf swings in the living room and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn’s relationship.” Furthermore, the “Gavin and Stacey” team has hinted that the mystery surrounding the fishing trip might at last be resolved. This represents the initial official image released from the “Gavin and Stacey” finale since production concluded in October. For several weeks, the cast pleased fans by filming the forthcoming special on the streets of Barry and at the Barry Island seafront. The concluding episode of “Gavin and Stacey” is scheduled to broadcast on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on December 25. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
