Gatwick Airport is encouraging charitable groups and local entities situated in East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, and Kent to submit applications for financial support from its dedicated community trust. The trust is currently accepting applications, making approximately £250,000 available. The Gatwick Airport Community Trust will give preference to organizations concentrating on sectors such as youth development, the arts, sports facilities, environmental initiatives, and community infrastructure. The final date for organizations to apply to the trust, which has been operational for over two decades, is 31 March. During its previous funding cycle, the trust extended assistance to over 100 charitable organizations and groups. Established in 2002, the Gatwick Airport Community Trust originated from legal agreements between West Sussex County Council, Crawley Borough Council, and London Gatwick, subsequent to the release of the airport’s sustainable development strategy. Its objective is to positively enhance the quality of life for communities impacted by the airport and its expansion. Notable recipients of funding in August included a school located in Kent, a homeless charity operating in West Sussex, and a food distributor based in Surrey.
