A question has emerged regarding Arsenal’s requirement for an additional striker during the January transfer window, juxtaposed with Gabriel Jesus’s recent resurgence in form. Jesus demonstrated a notable scoring efficiency, netting five goals from merely 10 attempts in matches against Crystal Palace across the Carabao Cup and Premier League competitions. On BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, former West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker commented on Jesus’s performance, stating, “He is looking great.” Reo-Coker attributed this to a psychological factor, explaining, “It is a confidence thing because once you find the back of the net that’s it and everything he is hitting is now ending up in there.” He further remarked, “This is the Jesus they wanted from the start when they bought him.” Reo-Coker acknowledged Jesus’s consistent effort, noting, “You could never question his attitude – he just wasn’t doing his job and soring goals.” He then observed, “Now he is and it might have come at the best time for Arsenal. I’ve always thought that January will show how much intent Arsenal are showing in the title race.” Reo-Coker concluded by asserting, “If they try and re-energise the attacking end of the pitch and get another striker in during the transfer window then they will show us how serious they are.” He maintained, “They still need to do that, regardless of Jesus.”
