Drivers will be able to park without charge at specific times in four car parks across Devon, an initiative a council states is intended to support local businesses during the Christmas period. West Devon Borough Council clarified that the objective is to “offer support to the high streets” of Chagford, Hatherleigh, Okehampton, and Tavistock. Councillor Adam Bridgewater, the lead member for communities, remarked: “Christmas is such a magical time, particularly in west Devon. “This parking offer gives a little extra time to enjoy choosing bespoke and individual gifts for your loved ones, enjoy some refreshments and take advantage of the many events on offer which our hard-working town councils and community groups have organised.”” The designated dates and times for this free parking are: Chagford: From 15:00 GMT on Thursdays and Fridays in December. From 17:00 on Tuesday 10 December. Hatherleigh: From 15:00 on Thursdays and Fridays in December. Okehampton: From 15:00 on Thursdays and Fridays in December (Mill Road only). Tavistock: From 15:00 on Thursdays and Fridays in December (not Guildhall). All day on Saturday 14 December.
