The Jersey Development Company (JDC) has announced that plans for the redevelopment of Fort Regent are expected to be released in early 2025. The island’s Minister for Infrastructure had previously assigned responsibility for this project to the JDC. Lee Henry, the company’s chief executive, indicated his aspiration to unveil these proposals within the initial months of the year, contingent upon ongoing discussions with stakeholders and the government. He described them as “exciting proposals that would deliver significant all-weather facilities for the island”. During a public meeting held to discuss updated plans for reshaping St Helier’s waterfront, Mr. Henry clarified that the designs for Fort Regent were formulated to complement the waterfront, thereby preventing the duplication of facilities. He also confirmed that the current plans for the Fort do not include a swimming pool. Mr. Henry further explained that the continued operation of the Aquasplash, alongside proposals for a new outdoor 50m (164ft) pool at Les Jardins de La Mer, eliminated the need for an additional pool at Fort Regent.
