A dog, previously abandoned and discovered tied up, bald, and bleeding, is set to experience its initial Christmas within a caring new residence. Identified as Enzo, the young bull breed-type dog was located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on February 1. Its state was described as a “shocking condition,” characterized by bleeding skin and significant fur loss. The animal, found near the Peak Forest Canal at Woodley Precinct, was also covered in scabs and sores. However, the dog has since been adopted. Its new owner, Ana Freitas, stated that “it was love at first sight.” Ms. Freitas, a legal adviser residing near Congleton, had been seeking to rehome a rescue dog following her relocation to the UK from Brazil for employment. According to Ms. Freitas, personnel at the RSPCA’s Greater Manchester Animal Hospital informed her about Enzo, and she realized “straight away” her desire to adopt him. The 29-year-old remarked, “It was so sad hearing about his past but he’s the most amazing dog who loves people.” She added, “From the first moment he came into the house he hasn’t left my side. He settled in beautifully and on the first night he slept on my bed with his paw on my arm.” While his fur eventually regrew, Enzo retains permanent scars on the top of his head. Ms. Freitas commented, “He’s made a remarkable transition from a difficult past to a life filled with love and joy.” She further stated, “His presence has made my days brighter and filled with so much love.” RSPCA Inspector Ryan King noted, “It took many weeks of care by the wonderful team at our Warrington animal centre to get him back to full health, although he will always bear some permanent scars from his past neglect.” He continued, “We’re so grateful to Ana for offering him a fantastic home where he’s loved and enjoying life to the full, just as it should be.” For more content, listeners can access the best of BBC Radio Manchester on Sounds and follow BBC Manchester on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
