A former West Mercia Police officer, who confessed to creating indecent images of children, has been handed a suspended sentence. Jamie Bunting, 27, residing at Westminster Close in Bromsgrove, entered a guilty plea after being charged in August with three offenses related to the images. He received a ten-month sentence, suspended for two years, for a Category A image, which is considered the most severe classification. The individual, who previously led cadets, was also given suspended sentences of six months for a Category B image and four months for a Category C image. Additionally, he was made subject to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and his name was added to the sex offender’s register. The 27-year-old resigned from the force earlier this year, as stated by the force in an official communication. The statement further clarified that this resignation would not prevent him from facing gross misconduct proceedings in due course. Bunting was previously stationed at Kidderminster Police Station and held a leadership role for the North Worcestershire Volunteer Police Cadets. The charge of making indecent images can encompass actions such as downloading an image from a website, receiving an image via a social media application, or opening an email containing such content.
