Former Gunners defender Carl Jenkinson states that Arsenal requires the swift return of Gabriel, whom he describes as “under the radar.” The 26-year-old centre-back sustained the injury on Sunday following a collision involving Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez and the rear of Gabriel’s left knee. Despite his initial continuation in the match, Gabriel required assistance to leave the pitch and proceed down the tunnel with thirty minutes remaining in play. He was subsequently observed on the bench with an ice pack applied to his knee. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta indicated after the game that he was unaware of the immediate severity of the injury, noting that Gabriel “could not run.” “It looked quite an awkward sort of movement and they’re often the ones that can cause a few problems,” Jenkinson informed BBC World Service. He added, “I’m really hoping, as an ex-Arsenal player and fan, that he’s good as gold because Gabriel’s a huge player for Arsenal, absolutely huge. He doesn’t probably get the recognition he deserves because he’s playing [alongside] one of the best in the league, if not in the world, these days in William Saliba.” Jenkinson further commented, “Sometimes he quietly goes under the radar. We need those two together because they’re so good as a partnership.” He concluded by expressing concern: “I do have a few worries at the moment because there’s quite a few injuries in that back line. Fingers crossed for him because he’s such a huge player for Arsenal, the club need him out there as much as possible.” Post navigation Hip Injury Rules England Wing Jess Breach Out Until February Norwich’s injury update: Forsyth avoids surgery, but club’s player crisis deepens
