A golf course that ceased operations two years prior because of municipal budget reductions might be revitalized as a “coastal leisure park.” Hype Merseyside, a community organization, announced its aspiration to establish a nine-hole footgolf course and a bicycle rental service at the Wallasey location by next summer. Since its closure in 2022, the erstwhile pitch-and-putt course has remained unmaintained, allowing vegetation to grow unchecked. Provided that planning approval is secured from Wirral Council, Hype Merseyside also expressed its intention to provide facilities for walking and running clubs and to establish a nature reserve. Matthew Houghton, a spokesperson, informed the Local Democracy Reporting Service that Hype Merseyside aims to collaborate with 12 primary schools in the upcoming year. The community group stated its objective to promote greater participation in sports and employment opportunities among young individuals. Hype Merseyside has previously assumed management of two municipal properties: Birkenhead Park and Central Park in Wallasey.
