Goalkeeper David Harrington has been included in Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Turkey and Iceland. Harrington joined Fleetwood from Cork City in January 2023. The 24-year-old Fleetwood Town player, born in Cork, Republic of Ireland, qualifies to represent Wales through his father, Phil Harrington, who was also a goalkeeper and was born in Bangor. He has previously been part of the Ireland Under-21s setup and received his first senior call-up for Ireland in June for friendly matches against Hungary and Portugal, though he remained an unused substitute in both games. Harrington will now join the Wales squad for Bellamy’s third camp as the international manager. Although Harrington had been linked with a move to Premier League club Everton, he completed his transfer to Fleetwood from Cork City in January 2023. He currently works under the guidance of former Wales international Owain Fon Williams, who serves as the goalkeeper coach for the League Two club. This season, Harrington has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Charlie Adam’s team. He joins Danny Ward, Karl Darlow, and Tom King as goalkeepers in the squad for Wales’ final two Nations League matches of the year. Bellamy’s team is scheduled to face Turkey in Kayseri on 16 November at 17:00 GMT. They will then host Iceland at Cardiff City Stadium three days later, with kick-off at 19:45 GMT. Goalkeepers: Danny Ward, Karl Darlow, Tom King, David Harrington. Defenders: Rhys Norrington-Davies, Owen Beck, Ben Davies, Ben Cabango, Joe Rodon, Chris Mepham, Connor Roberts, Neco Williams. Midfielders: Jordan James, Rubin Colwill, Josh Sheehan, Joe Allen, Harry Wilson, David Brooks, Daniel James, Sorba Thomas, Wes Burns.
