Five individuals granted bail in 1994 murder investigation

Five individuals taken into custody regarding the killing of a taxi driver, whose body was discovered shot dead in his vehicle 30 years prior, have been granted bail. Nottinghamshire Police allowed the four male and one female detainees to leave, as inquiries into the demise of Ethsham Ul-Haq Ghafoor are ongoing. Mr. Ghafoor, identified by acquaintances and relatives as Shami, was discovered by a milk delivery person with his hands secured and bound to the steering wheel during the early morning hours of 22 November 1994 at Lambley Lane Playing Fields in Gedling, Nottinghamshire. The police agency had previously declared its decision to reopen the investigation into Mr. Ghafoor’s fatality, with Crimestoppers providing a £50,000 reward for relevant details. According to the force, four males, aged 51, 52, 57, and 64, along with a 47-year-old female, all from Nottingham’s Sneinton and Bakersfield districts, were taken into custody on Wednesday under suspicion of murder. Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin stated that the police department had received “numerous calls from the public” since the public appeal commenced. “Please continue to share our appeal and contact us with any information you may have,” he added. Law enforcement officials reported that Mr. Ghafoor, residing in Sherwood Rise in Nottingham, was last observed in Carlton Square at about 02:00 GMT, and his remains were discovered at 04:30. At the time of his passing, he and his spouse were anticipating the birth of a baby daughter. He was also a father to a five-year-old son. Several individuals were apprehended during the initial period, but no convictions have ever been secured.
