The organisers of a fireworks exhibition have issued an apology following an incident where multiple individuals, among them two children, were struck by rockets. Mynyddgarreg Hall, situated close to Kidwelly in Carmarthenshire, stated its regret, saying it was “sorry for any distress caused” during the event held on Tuesday. The venue further noted that safety had been a primary concern throughout the 30 years it had hosted the display, but acknowledged that a single rocket “unfortunately did not fire in the direction intended”. A mother reported that her children “never want to see fireworks again”. Mynyddgarreg Hall also confirmed that no severe injuries had been reported and indicated its collaboration with the local authority to examine its operational procedures. The firework experienced a malfunction approximately three minutes into the thirty-minute show, striking Rhian’s son Oliver, aged seven, in the neck, and Charlie, aged 11, in the ear. She recounted: “They were coming towards us then going off, we didn’t know where to turn or if more were heading towards us, so we rushed back as fast as we could.” She further commented that her sons were “totally traumatised” by the occurrence. Rhian mentioned observing numerous upset parents requesting refunds, but noted that staff did “not seem to know what was going on”. Separately, another individual present, Alan Wall, stated that his partner Gemma sustained a hit to the face, and a firework spark impacted the back of his daughter’s coat. He described: “We saw the first one skimming across the grass and exploding in front of us.” Amidst the chaos, Mr. Wall recounted pulling his daughter close to his chest and ducking, explaining that “they were bouncing everywhere”. He concluded: “It was extensive, the amount of fireworks that went off in the crowd. It was a mad rush to leave.” The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed receiving a report at 19:26 GMT on Tuesday “after fireworks had flown horizontally over a crowd”, though its personnel were not required to attend the location.
