An aggravated burglary in a village reportedly involved the discharge of a firearm. Bedfordshire Police received a call shortly after 19:30 GMT on Friday, following reports of gunshots heard during a burglary at Fisher Close in Barton le Clay. Responding officers found no reported injuries. Detective Inspector Adam Butt assured local residents that the police force is investigating the event and that officers would stay in the vicinity. “Incidents of this nature will no doubt cause a great deal of concern within the local community,” he said. “I would like to reassure residents that we are working to establish the circumstances of this offence and are committed to apprehending those responsible.” “Officers from our community policing teams will remain in the area over the weekend.” He urged residents to communicate any concerns they might have to the police.
