A significant fire at a tyre establishment has led to residents being urged to keep windows and doors closed. Norfolk Fire Service responded to an incident at Discount Tyres, located on High Road in Saddlebow, close to King’s Lynn, around 04:00 GMT. Firefighting units from King’s Lynn, Fakenham, Terrington, Massingham, Heacham, and Downham Market were dispatched to the scene, where a thermal imaging camera was deployed to identify any remaining hot spots. An aerial ladder platform from King’s Lynn and the Environmental Protection Unit from Sprowston were also present. Discount Tyres announced via a Facebook post that its operations would cease for the foreseeable future following a “massive fire outbreak.” The business requested that customers refrain from visiting, stating that further information would be issued once appropriate. The fire service indicated its personnel were anticipated to remain on location until Friday afternoon. A statement from the service confirmed: “We have liaised with the Environment Agency and there is no risk to waterways. “We are still advising people to keep their doors and windows closed while we continue to dampen down the site of the fire.” The statement concluded: “Our Fire Investigation Team are now on site working to establish a cause of the fire.” Norfolk news updates are available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
