A significant roadway was shut down as emergency services addressed a “large fire” at a facility specializing in demolition and asbestos recycling. The Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service received a call regarding the incident on West Carr Road in Attleborough, adjacent to the A11, at 15:34 GMT on Saturday. A total of nine fire service vehicles, among them an environmental protection unit, were deployed to the site. Anglian Demolition and Asbestos Ltd reported that the blaze originated at the facility and was confined to one of its shredders and a quantity of stored wood and general waste. The company issued a statement via social media, stating: “We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Norfolk Fire and Rescue and the emergency services that attended the incident and extinguished the fire so swiftly. “We would also like to thank our amazing professional staff for dealing with this so well, with their quick actions preventing more damage.”We would also like to offer our apologies to our town and neighbours for any inconvenience caused.” No injuries were reported, according to the company. Norfolk Police confirmed that its officers were also present at the location.
