Approximately 300 decorated tractors are scheduled to participate in a festive parade across Leicestershire. This Sunday marks the fifth occurrence of the annual Archers Festive Tractor run. The procession is slated to depart from Lutterworth at 16:30 GMT, traversing villages like Countesthorpe and Whetstone before concluding at its original departure point. Ryan Archer, the event’s organiser from Blaby, stated that the initiative aims to generate funds for both LOROS and the Leicestershire MS Therapy Centre. Mr. Archer, aged 44, received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer a decade ago and receives oxygen therapy at the centre twice weekly. He commented, “It’s nice to actually give something back for what you’re taking.” Over the past four years, these tractor runs have collectively amassed approximately £150,000 for various causes located within Leicestershire. Mr. Archer remarked, “Charities stay in touch and come back to us and say what that money’s actually done, that’s a bit heartwarming.” He explained that his motivation for initiating the tractor runs was to “bring a bit of festivity” and “a bit of light to everybody’s doorstep.” He added, “I think it was well received and we’ve grown from there.” He further elaborated on the event’s appeal, stating, “This time of year I always think it’s challenging for everybody.” He observed, “Everyone wants to stay at home. What I feel with this is it actually brings people out.” He concluded, “When you go through some of the villages and you see people shoulder to shoulder on the streets, you don’t see that very often nowadays and I think that really helps everybody.” Post navigation Newquay Charity Supporting Homeless and Vulnerable Announces Closure Campaign to Deliver Festive Cheer to Rescued Animals
