The Christmas stamp issues for Guernsey and Alderney this year showcase snowmen situated at prominent locations across the islands. Local artist Caroline Veron created the Guernsey collection, which depicts a snowman and a snowchild in festive settings at sites including St Saviours Reservoir and St Peter Port lighthouse. The Alderney series, designed by another local artist, Penny Dawes, features a snowman who encounters a blonde hedgehog and fairies during his journey across the island. Bridget Yabsley, Guernsey Post’s head of philatelic, stated: “These wonderful Christmas stamps are sure to put a smile on people’s faces and we’re delighted to see so many locations across the islands in all their festive glory.” She also mentioned that the reduced rate stamps for Guernsey and Alderney – set at the 60p standard Christmas card rate – will be available from 25 November to 20 December.
