Festive Farmhouse in Lesmahagow Crowned Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year 2024

The Festive Farmhouse in Lesmahagow has been announced as the recipient of the Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year 2024 title. Interior designers Anna Campbell-Jones and Banjo Beale, along with architect Danny Campbell, evaluated five decorated residences during a one-hour Christmas special aired on BBC One Scotland before selecting the winner. The judging panel commended the victorious home for its festive charm and enchanting Christmas atmosphere. This year, the holiday edition of the popular Scotland’s Home of the Year program featured properties in Lesmahagow, Cumbernauld, Dalkeith, Alloa, and Fraserburgh. The Festive Farmhouse, a traditional Victorian property located in South Lanarkshire, is the residence of Angela and Mark Breen and their four children: Marylee, Samuel, Marcus, and Rosa. For this family, the Christmas period revolves around involving everyone in the celebrations, from holiday baking to crafting and gathering natural foliage for handmade decorations. Many of the children’s artistic creations and crafts are incorporated into the nature-inspired Christmas theme present throughout the farmhouse. Angela stated: “Winning Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year 2024 is an unbelievable achievement.” “We adopted a traditional approach to decorating for Christmas. Lots of velvet, burgundy, natural foliage, dried oranges, and handmade crafts. “It was a family effort, and the children love to get on board with creating decorations and adding their own interpretations of what a Victorian Christmas should look like.” Judge and interior designer Anna Campbell Jones remarked that it was “a beautifully restored and timeless setting for a truly magical family celebration.” “The Festive Farmhouse is the epitome of what anyone visiting this planet would imagine the perfect Scottish Christmas home to be.” Fellow judge Banjo Beale commented: “It was a frosty reception outside but inside the Festive Farmhouse was a warm wonderland of fire, foliage and vintage family fun.” And architect Danny Campbell observed: “Every feature lends itself to festive adornments, with a layout primed for entertaining family and friends.” Copyright 2024 BBC.
