Services for ferries operating between Lancashire and the Isle of Man have been called off following weather alerts predicting wind gusts exceeding 50mph. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company announced the cancellation of its 19:45 GMT departure from Douglas to Heysham, citing the “forecast adverse weather.” The corresponding return journey scheduled for 02:15 on Sunday has also been cancelled. These weather advisories from the Met Office coincide with a period of significant travel for millions of individuals in anticipation of Christmas. A yellow warning became effective at 07:00 on Saturday and is slated to remain in effect until 21:00 on Sunday, covering Scotland, northern England, and portions of Wales and Northern Ireland. Passengers of the Steam Packet had previously received notice that severe gales were expected to lead to disruptions over the current weekend. Furthermore, the ferry operator issued a caution regarding potential delays for its route connecting Douglas and Liverpool.
