Strong winds over the Irish Sea have caused interruptions to ferry services operating between the Isle of Man and Lancashire. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company verified the cancellation of the morning’s voyage from Douglas to Heysham Port, along with its scheduled afternoon return journey. The company announced that evening and overnight departures would be delayed by over two hours, and Thursday’s daytime crossings were also anticipated to experience disturbances. Wind speeds are predicted to intensify progressively during the day, with evening gusts potentially reaching 50mph (80km/h). Individuals scheduled to travel on the cancelled services were advised to get in touch with the Steam Packet to arrange rebooking for an alternative crossing. The state-owned ferry operator stated that Thursday’s daytime crossing times had been postponed by over an hour, with a final determination on the operation of these services expected by 07:30 GMT.
