A man received a conviction for manslaughter following the death of his three-week-old infant. Kadees Mohammed, residing at Dovey Road in Birmingham, had faced a murder charge subsequent to his son Ibrahim sustaining fatal head injuries on October 18, 2022. However, a jury at Birmingham Crown Court, after a trial, acquitted him of murder but determined him guilty of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. The 31-year-old individual was additionally found guilty of two charges of unlawful wounding when the jury delivered its verdicts on Thursday. According to West Midlands Police, the court had previously been informed that Mohammed was known as a caring husband and father, but he began exhibiting uncharacteristic behavior, prompting initial efforts to assess his mental health. Subsequent to the verdict, Ibrahim’s mother offered a tribute to her “beautiful” son. “My love for you is eternal. I know that you are no longer with me but your precious belongings are so dear to me,” she said. “I imagine how life would have been with you by my side. I would have watched you grow, laughed with you and wiped your tears.” “You will remain in my memories for the rest of my life like a beautiful flower. Love from your mum.” Mohammed has been remanded to a secure mental health facility pending his sentencing, which is scheduled for the week commencing December 9.
