A two-vehicle collision in the Scottish Borders resulted in the death of an 83-year-old woman and injuries to four other individuals. Emergency responders were dispatched to the site of the collision, which involved a black Seat Altea and a grey Honda CRV, on the A7 Abbotsford Road in Galashiels at 10:55. The driver of the Seat vehicle was transported to Borders General Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased a short time afterward. The driver of the Honda, identified as a 78-year-old man, was also transported to Borders General Hospital, accompanied by three passengers: a 75-year-old woman, a 46-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old boy. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. The affected road segment was closed to traffic and subsequently reopened around 15:00. Sgt Jennifer Niven stated: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.” Individuals possessing relevant information are encouraged to contact the police.
