A murder inquiry has commenced following the fatal stabbing of a man in the street. The 34-year-old victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was assaulted outside a property on Lealholm Walk in Eston, near Middlesbrough, at 21:00 GMT on Thursday. He was transported to James Cook University Hospital by ambulance, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Cleveland Police have not yet apprehended anyone and are appealing to the public for information to assist in locating the perpetrator. Matt Hollingsworth, the senior investigating officer from Cleveland Police, aimed to reassure Eston residents. “I understand there will be concern in the local community, and I want to take this opportunity to reassure residents that we will be working around the clock to identify and detain the person responsible,” he said. “There will be an increased police presence – with patrols in the area for your reassurance – and I would encourage anyone who has concerns to speak to an officer.” A police cordon has been established around the site of the stabbing. Officers have requested to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the murder on Thursday night. Follow BBC Tees on X, Facebook, Nextdoor and Instagram.
