Fatal Single-Vehicle Collision in Leicestershire

An elderly man, aged in his 80s, has passed away following an incident where his vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a tree in Leicestershire. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the operator of the Kia Sportage succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The incident took place on the A5, specifically the section between the M69 near Hinckley and the B578 Lutterworth Road, at approximately 14:45 GMT on Monday. Police stated that no other vehicles were involved in the collision. The road was subsequently closed in both directions, affecting the stretch between the M69 and the A4303 at Lutterworth. However, National Highways later confirmed its reopening shortly after 21:00. Leicestershire Police have issued an appeal for any individuals who witnessed the crash or possess dashcam footage to come forward.
