The life of a 65-year-old man was lost following a collision involving his vehicle and multiple others, which subsequently struck the central barrier on Glasgow’s M74 motorway. The individual was operating a Porsche Boxster on the southbound lanes around 6:00 PM on Sunday when the event occurred at junction 2, close to Rutherglen. Medical personnel declared him deceased at the site of the accident. Two women, one aged 45 driving a Nissan Leaf and another aged 42 driving a BMW 2 Series, were transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Following the collision, the motorway experienced closures in both directions. It was completely reopened to traffic at 4:30 AM on Monday. Sergeant Adnan Alam issued a statement, saying: “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this difficult time.” He added, “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not already spoken to police.” Sgt Alam further requested, “We would also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage to please check this as they may have captured the crash or just prior to it taking place.” He concluded by stating, “Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland.”
