The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has announced that two cats perished in a fire at a residential building in west London. Approximately 60 firefighters, supported by eight fire engines, were dispatched to Amber Way in Hammersmith on Sunday at around 17:50 GMT. A section of a three-room apartment, located on the fifth floor of the seven-story residential block, suffered destruction. The LFB reported no additional injuries. The brigade further indicated that the blaze was thought to have originated from the improper discarding of smoking materials and was being classified as accidental. “If you smoke it is vitally important you stub it right out, preferably in an ashtray,” LFB said. Firefighting personnel from Acton, Chiswick, Kensington, and North Kensington were among those deployed. Control over the fire was established in under an hour.
