A fire service has stated that a house fire in Coventry, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals, was accidentally ignited by a modified electric bicycle. Emergency teams responding to the conflagration in the Stoke Aldemoor district on Friday discovered the deceased within the residence. Subsequent to an inquiry, the West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) reported that the fire originated from a pedal bicycle that had been adapted into an electric version, kept in the hallway. The identities of the deceased individuals have not yet been officially confirmed. Responders dispatched to The Coppice just before 04:40 GMT encountered an intense fire within a first-floor maisonette apartment, which impacted the whole dwelling. In a statement, WMFS communicated: “No further information relating to the cause or the victims who sadly lost their lives in this tragic accident will be released at this time.“Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic accident.” A total of four fire brigades were dispatched to the location, with the initial unit reaching the site within four minutes. Personnel utilized breathing apparatus to gain entry into the premises and brought the fire under control by 05:55 GMT. An inquiry was conducted by fire investigations officers and a fire investigations dog, in collaboration with police.
