A 24-year-old woman from the Poole area tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle while walking on a dual carriageway. Dorset Police reported that the incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 20:10 GMT, when she was hit on the eastbound carriageway of the A35 Upton bypass, specifically between Upton and the Shell garage. She was transported to a hospital, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased. Authorities are issuing an appeal for any witnesses to the event, as well as drivers who may possess relevant dashcam footage, to make contact. Sgt Lee Savage, representing the Dorset Police traffic unit, stated: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died in this collision and we have specially trained officers supporting them at this difficult time.” He further emphasized, “We know there were a large number of witnesses to this incident and I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.” For updates, BBC Dorset can be followed on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
