A collision has resulted in the deaths of a retired dance instructor and an individual who previously worked for BBC Wales. Law enforcement officials have identified the two deceased women as Madeline Elaine Brooks, 85, and Beverly Pugsley, 69. The incident occurred on the A4050 in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, approximately at 13:40 GMT on Saturday. The affected section of the road was closed between the intersection of Port Road East and Barry Dock Link Road, extending to Pugh’s Garden Centre. Two men, aged 24 and 67, are currently hospitalized. Authorities are requesting information from the public, specifically concerning a grey Audi RS 4. Mrs. Brooks, a mother, nanna, great-grandmother, and aunt, was born in Penarth and resided in Barry for over 65 years. Her family characterized her as “a lively lady” with a passion for ballroom dancing, noting that she taught at numerous locations across Wales and continued to participate in afternoon dances until recently. Her family stated, “She was always very active, loved gardening and always out and about, shopping, visiting places and holidaying, mostly in Devon in later years.” Mrs. Pugsley was a native of Llandaff, Cardiff, where she also resided. She dedicated the majority of her professional life to various positions at the BBC, subsequently working as a researcher for television programs. Her family commented, “Beverley was a quiet lady who loved her job.” They added, “She spent her time socialising with her cousin and aunt, visiting places around the Vale, and loved going off on trips especially to Devon.”
