A family has expressed profound sorrow for a “much-loved” husband, father, and brother who passed away due to injuries sustained in a severe assault. Hampshire Police responded to a report of a fire at a residence on Exmouth Road in Gosport at 17:20 GMT on November 29. Andrew Avery, 65, a resident of the town, was discovered gravely injured at the address and subsequently succumbed to his wounds. Police officials stated that Alan Wotton, 81, has been charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life. Andrew’s family released a statement saying: “”Andy was a much-loved Husband, Father, Brother and Dear Friend. “He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. Andy was the most generous and kind person and would do anything for anyone. His memory will live on through his family and friends.”Andy, you were so very loved and taken from us far too soon.”” The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service dispatched teams from Gosport and Fareham to the blaze, which was located near the Elson Junior School. The service reported that firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, utilized two hose reel jets and one main jet to tackle the fire.
