The relatives of Catherine Flynn, described as a “wonderful mum,” have expressed their respects following her death after an incident in Rhyl. Ms. Flynn, aged 69, was transported to a hospital after emergency personnel responded to a residence on Cefndy Road in Rhyl, Denbighshire. Dean Mark Albert Mears, 33, residing at Bodelwyddan Avenue in Kinmel Bay, Conwy county, has been presented in court, facing charges of murder and aggravated burglary. In a statement, Ms. Flynn’s family characterized her as “a second mother to many.” They further stated, “She loved her family more than anything, she was a fantastic cook and was always wanting to feed anyone in her company.” The family also conveyed that her garden was her “pride and joy” following her family, and she would spend “hours just watching the birds and the bees come in and out of her little wonderland, with every flower imaginable.” They added, “We often wondered how her garden was always so beautiful – now we know, it’s because she was the ray of sunshine.” Her family described her as their “everything,” noting that nothing was “ever too much for her.” They affirmed, “She would help anyone she could, and she would always try her best.” The family communicated that her death has created “a huge hole in their hearts,” and circumstances “will never be the same again.” They further stated, “We’ve not only lost our mum and nan, we’ve lost our best friend, our safe place, our security, our backbone of the family and our daily ray of sunshine.” Specialist officers are currently providing support to Ms. Flynn’s family.
